Environmental Policy
Our commitment to minimising environmental impact and operating sustainably across all of our sites and operations.
Remote Surveillance was founded to reduce the environmental impact of security service delivery. Management and staff at all levels are committed to the care of the environment, to the prevention of pollution arising from anything we or our products do, and to maintaining the environmental controls that relate to our business activities.
This policy applies across our operations: our office, workshop and warehouse premises in Bristol; our manned security assignments on client projects; our engineering activities and product life cycles, including work on solar farms; and our remote monitoring operation.
Our most significant environmental aspects are the use of vehicles travelling to and from site, the use of natural resources, and equipment and packaging waste. We give due consideration to resource use in product design and procurement, and we consider the effects our operations may have on the local community, including natural habitats, flora and fauna.
We are committed to:
- protecting the environment wherever we reasonably can;
- determining our compliance obligations and ensuring our operations are carried out in accordance with them;
- continually improving our environmental management arrangements in order to enhance our environmental performance;
- implementing and maintaining an environmental management system in accordance with ISO 14001;
- correcting any relevant non-conformities;
- allocating suitable and sufficient resources to enable the company to achieve its environmental aims and objectives;
- preventing pollution and reducing waste wherever we work;
- taking action to eliminate or reduce, as far as practicable, any potentially adverse environmental impacts;
- promoting environmental awareness among our suppliers, contractors and partners;
- working in partnership with the community by behaving in a considerate and socially responsible manner;
- ensuring effective and expedient incident control, investigation and reporting.
We set environmental improvement objectives and targets which are periodically monitored and reviewed, so that directors and management remain fully engaged in the management of environmental issues. Impact assessments, efforts to reduce our carbon footprint through monitoring and reduction techniques, and audits supported by corrective and preventive action, are our principal means of achieving this.
Our products are designed with this in mind. Our solar-powered welfare cabins and remotely monitored CCTV towers are intended to deliver security with substantially less diesel generation and fewer vehicle movements than conventional manned provision. Generation from the solar equipment deployed across our fleet is recorded daily and reported, so the reduction is measured rather than estimated.
This policy is accessible to all interested parties, and is issued and explained to all employees on commencement of work with the company. Its continuing suitability is reviewed at our Management Review meetings, and any revisions are brought to the attention of employees.
